Toyota and Uber Team Up to Advance Autonomous Driving

Knowing that, Toyota has agreed to partner up with one of the most recognizable companies in transport to try and keep moving forward.

Ride-share juggernaut Uber’s Advanced Technologies Group reached out to Toyota to help develop self-driving Toyota models. Uber boss Eric Meyhofer released a statement in August announcing a partnership with Toyota, in which Uber will provide their proprietary self-driving system to select numbers of Toyota Siennas. They won’t be owned by Uber directly, but a third-party is yet to be announced. This is an initiative to develop autonomous driving technology on a much wider scale around the world. Things are still in the testing phases, but Meyhofer “looks forward to making progress in the years ahead” thanks to their partnership with an amazing partner like Toyota.

A radar device, under the Toyota badge, detects vehicles you approach while under cruise control, and can slow or accelerate to keep the proper distance.
