Toyota Brand Dominates Safety Awards

In what comes as no surprise to Keith Pierson Toyota, Toyota Motor North America took home 11 Insurance Institute of Highway Safety 2018 Awards: seven for the Toyota brand and four for the Lexus marque. This was more than any other automaker, and a testament not just to the Toyota brand’s enduring engineering and materials quality, but also to its inclusion of the Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS) suite as standard on every model.

Those of our customers shopping for a Toyota Camry during the holidays will be especially pleased, seeing as the fully redesigned 2018 Toyota Camry was one of only a handful of vehicles to take home the IIHS’ highest honor, Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+). This award goes to the special automobiles that earn the IIHS’ highest rating in its six core tests, along with an “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash protection and a top rating of “good” for headlight performance.

No doubt a big reason for the 2018 Toyota Camry model’s exceptional showing is its litany of cutting-edge TSS technologies, which include auto-dimming LED highlights, automatic emergency braking, traffic-adapting cruise control, and lane-departure warning/mitigation.
